How Watch Shattered Vows Series Works Micro Drama Roundup

Five Apps Go Through Six Rounds, With No Participation Trophies

Short-drama apps stopped being a niche curiosity some time ago. According to Sensor Tower, the category earned about $700M in worldwide in-app revenue in Q1 2025, and 49% of it came from the US. By Q1 2026 the quarterly figure had grown to about $750M, while full-year 2025 landed at roughly $2.8–3B. Search a store for a short reels app and you will meet watch Shattered Vows at least one of the five names that dominate the conversation: ReelShort, DramaBox, ShortMax, My Drama and DramaWave. On the surface they seem identical, with vertical episodes, a cliffhanger every minute or two and a weekly pass waiting behind the paywall. What you pay and where you can watch depend on how they differ underneath, in ownership, pricing, platforms and extras. Drawing on only store listings, company terms and published industry data as of September 2026, we put them through six rounds and named a winner in each.

The Big Comparison Grid

This grid puts the whole field on one screen before the rounds start. Prices track the US App Store as of September 2026, and they change by country, platform and promotion. We pulled install counts from each app’s Google Play listing. On market share, the figures are Media Partners Asia estimates for the microdrama market outside China. Where a cell says “not reported”, no reliable source released the figure, and we would sooner leave a gap than guess. The grid serves as the scoreboard, and the rounds below are the commentary.

Round 1: Owners and Scale

ReelShort is the incumbent, and it still holds the most weight. MPA assigns it about 29% of the market outside China; launched in August 2022, it comes from Crazy Maple Studio, a Sunnyvale company backed by China’s COL Group. MPA also estimates its 2025 revenue at $785M and forecasts $1.05B for 2026. Launched in April 2023 and holding about 21%, DramaBox is run by Singapore’s StoryMatrix as a subsidiary of Beijing Dianzhong Technology. Sensor Tower had ReelShort ahead $130M to $120M in Q1 2025, but by Q1 2026 the two were tied at roughly $140M each, with DramaBox ranked first. Often mistyped as “dreamwave”, DramaWave is the youngest app here, yet it already holds about 13%, and its annualized revenue reportedly passed $700M by Q2 2026. My Drama, the smallest of the group with 5M+ Android installs, is nonetheless the only one with Fox Entertainment as a shareholder. ShortMax, which operates from Hong Kong, appears to be the same app as ShortTV from Jiuzhou Culture. GoodShort, for context, has about 6% and sits just outside this field. Winner: ReelShort, on market share, but only narrowly.

Round 2: Cost

This is the round where the apps seem most alike. ReelShort, ShortMax, My Drama and DramaWave all offer a weekly pass at around $19.99 in the US App Store, and each one renews automatically. DramaWave’s weekly VIP begins at $7.99, and ShortMax also offers a $9.99 “Weekly Pass Pro”. DramaBox goes a different route: auto-renewing memberships at $5.99, $17.99 and $19.99, plus special offers from $4.99. The standout is DramaWave’s monthly VIP at $36.99, the only verified monthly plan in these US listings. Since four weeks of a $19.99 weekly pass add up to about $80, a monthly plan at less than half that is the wiser buy for steady viewers. Prices vary by country, platform and promotion, so the number on your screen may be different. Winner: DramaWave, because its monthly plan beats four weekly renewals by a wide margin.

Round 3: Watching for Free

Free viewing is where the marketing turns loud and the details grow thin. The first 5 to 15 episodes of a series are usually free, according to ReelShort’s own blog, and one rewarded ad opens up two premium episodes. Logging in seven days in a row earns 100+ coins, though free reward coins usually expire while paid coins do not. ReelShort also runs official channels on YouTube, TikTok and Dailymotion, which offer the easiest legitimate way to sample a reel short drama without paying. Free options exist on DramaBox too, but its exact figures for free episodes, ad caps and check-in coins appear only in third-party guides. Do not treat look-alike sites, modded APKs or “unlimited coins” generators as a safe shortcut; they are unofficial, so keep away. Winner: ReelShort, and clearly so.

Round 4: Screens and Platforms

These apps genuinely split apart on the question of screens. iPhone, iPad, Apple silicon Macs, Vision Pro and Android are all covered by ReelShort, which also streams in a browser at reelshort.com with progress that syncs across devices. Since its domain points to the ShortTV website, ShortMax offers web browsing too. DramaWave’s verified presence is its iOS and Android apps, and DramaBox’s website mostly directs you back to the app. ReelShort’s App Store listing does not show an Apple TV app, but My Drama has one for tvOS 18 or later, and that is its trump card. Want nothing more than a shorts app on your phone? Any of the five will do. The winner: ReelShort overall; My Drama takes the living room.

Round 5: Library and Originals

No rival touches ShortMax on raw numbers. The app claims 50,000+ dramas in 19 languages. As of January 2024 the company behind ShortTV had made more than 600 mini-dramas for overseas markets, and most of them were dubbed Chinese adaptations. More than 80% of the newly released content on DramaWave is AI-generated, according to reports, and the app claims 30,000+ dramas in 18 languages. The Double Life of My Billionaire Husband and Fated to My Forbidden Alpha, give ReelShort the edge on recognizable hits, and both of them went viral in November 2023. In response, DramaBox offers an LA production team and originals such as Fake Dating My Rich Nemesis. My Drama has the most intriguing pipeline, since Fox has committed to 200+ vertical titles over two years. Winner: ShortMax, thanks to sheer volume.

Round 6: Perks and Fine Print

In this round, DramaWave runs away with it. Offline downloads, on-screen comments and 1080p video are promised in its App Store listing, and no other app in this comparison is verified to offer offline viewing. For anyone switching between phone and laptop, ReelShort’s cross-device sync is the next most useful perk. The fine print merits a look too, since it varies more than the prices do. ShortMax’s terms say refunds are not given “unless the paid product/service is unusable”, and My Drama forfeits coins after 12 months of inactivity. On any of these apps, deleting the app does not cancel your subscription, so cancel in App Store or Google Play settings instead. Winner: DramaWave.

Best For: Our Final Picks

The right choice depends on how you watch, since no single short drama app takes every round. My Drama is best for Apple TV, since it is the one app here with a verified tvOS version and the only one with Fox-produced originals. ReelShort is best for web viewing, thanks to a full browser player and progress that follows you between devices. DramaWave is best for commuters and steady bingers, as it combines offline downloads with a $36.99 monthly plan. ShortMax’s claimed 50,000+ dramas overshadow everything else in the grid, making it best for sheer volume. DramaBox is best for backing the current revenue leader, having been ranked first by Sensor Tower in Q1 2026 and picked for Disney’s 2025 Accelerator class. Best for free, legitimate sampling is ReelShort again, with its ad unlocks, check-in coins and official social channels. If you are tempted by all five, choose one, cancel the weekly pass you are not using and let the cliffhangers wait a day.
